A hero named Rick Rescorla, while in the process of saving 2,700 lives on 9/11, called his wife and said, “Stop crying. I have to get these people out safely. If something should happen to me, I want you to know I’ve never been happier. You made my life.”

Jan Demczur, a window washer working in the World Trade Center on 9/11, became trapped in an elevator in between floors after the first plane hit. Using his sqeegee to pry open the doors, he then broke through the drywall and led the passengers out of the building moments before it collapsed.
During 9/11, the Russian government canceled military exercises in the North Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic Oceans, in order to avoid provoking the US, which had raised it’s military alert readiness to DEFCON 3.
A bank that lost 66 employees in the 9/11 attacks has sent 54 children of their fallen colleagues to college.
