    This isn’t actually true…? Perhaps to “en”lighten their minds, but it had nothing to do at all with changing their skin color. Mormons believe that the darkening of the “Indians” skin was a metaphorical representation of them being identified as having fallen away from God. However in fact, many times in the Book of Mormon are these dark skinned Lamanites identified as being actually more righteous than the lighter skinned Nephites. Thus, the color of their skin was no the punishment at all. It was simply the way God chose to initially separate the rebellious from the faithful.
