Vampire bats not only drink the blood of their prey, but urinate on the prey as they do so.
In 1929 a “Bat Towеr” was built in the Florida Kеys to control mosquitoеs. It was fillеd with bats, which promptly flеw away – nеvеr to rеturn.
If vampire bats goes 2 days without drinking blood they can die, however, well fed female bats are generous and will puke up blood and share it with other bats which is nice of them.
Vampire bats practice “reciprocal altruism.” If one bat couldn’t find food, it will beg others, and they will share. Also, if a bat is orphaned it will get “adopted” by others in the colony.
