At the end of high school, Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, was voted “Most Likely to Write for The Simpsons.” Then at the age of 23, Glover was hired by Tina Fey to write for 30 Rock after he submitted a spec script (a non-commissioned unsolicited screenplay) about The Simpsons.
Gwen Stefani’s brother Eric was originally the keyboardist for No Doubt but left to become an animator for The Simpsons. He was able to put No Doubt into the background of the Lollapalloza episode when they were still pretty much an unknown band.
In 1997 there was a contest to win an exact replica of The Simpson’s house, fully furnished. The winner could keep the home or trade it for $75,000. The winner took the money. The house was stripped of its decor before being sold.
