In 2007, renown violinist Joshua Bell once played 6 Bach pieces at a metro station in DC. He played some of the hardest songs ever on a $3,500,000 violin for 45 minutes, and made $32 with 6 people watching. He frequently sells out shows for $100 a piece. There was no applause.
Niccolo Paganini, thought by many to be the greatest Violin Virtuoso of all time, was so incredibly good that many thought he was the Son of the Devil or he had sold his soul for his talent. He was even forced once to publish letters from his Mother to prove he had human parents. Presumably, he may have suffered from Marfan Syndrome which may have accounted for his incredibly long and strong fingers. Apparently he could bend his pinky at 90 degrees to his hand, which gave him extraordinary reach. He also once snapped a tea saucer in half using thumb and forefinger alone.
